General Event Information
A run for everyone
This event is for anyone of any age and ability, as long as you are wearing a kilt. You can choose to run or walk, it’s all at your pace. Dogs (excluding service dogs) are only permitted on the Classic Course (with dogs) at the mandated start time. No other pets, bicycles, scooters, hand cycles, skateboards or rollerblades are permitted. For safety reasons, we request those with strollers or non-racing wheelchairs to start from the back of the pack.
Please note that due to ongoing works in the Armadale City Centre, the Armadale Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run is moving to the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre for 2024. This means there is a new course around the lake, with both routes (2.5km and 5km) now fully wheelchair accessible. The new route map for the Perth Kilt Run will be uploaded to our event website prior to the event day.
Entry to the Armadale Highland Gathering is free.

Transport and Parking
Public Transport
Unfortunately, there are no public transport bus stops in the immediate area. If coming from the city, railway replacement buses drop patrons off at Albany Highway. The nearest bus stop is approximately 1.3km or a 17 minute walk from the event site.
Please note that service times can be subject to change so please visit www.transperth.wa.gov.au or use Transperth JourneyPlanner before you travel.
Car
Located just 40 minutes south east of the centre of Perth, Armadale is an easy drive down the Tonkin Highway and/or Kwinana Freeway.
Road Closures
Please note that Henley Drive, which allows access to the main island of the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre, will be closed to the public on Sunday 6 October.
Temporary Event Car Park
A temporary car park will be opened for this event. Access is from Champion Drive (turn off prior to the Tonkin Highway intersection) or from Lake View Terrace.
To prevent disruption to local residents, please do not park on streets surrounding the event venue. Street parking can obstruct traffic flow and access to homes. Please ensure that you do not block residential driveways or access points.
Drop Off Locations
For private vehicles dropping someone off, we recommend the corner of Lake View Terrace and Gertrude Avenue. Please be mindful of the shuttle bus as this will also be stopping nearby. From here it is approximately 180m to the event site. Note this is the closest private vehicle drop off point to the event.
There is also a designated drop off for private vehicles and rideshare vehicles off Henley Drive.
ACROD Parking
If you have an ACROD permit, you can park in the permanent and temporary ACROD parking bays in the Champion Lakes car park on Henley Drive. Spaces are limited, please ensure you display your ACROD parking permit.
If you are organising a group of people to arrive by bus, please send us an email to [email protected] and we’ll let you know the best place to park.
A free shuttle bus service is being provided, connecting parking lots to the event site.
The shuttle bus will stop at:
- The main parking lot to the north-west of the event site
- Near the corner of Lake View Terrace and Gertrude Avenue
- At the ACROD parking near Henley Drive
- And on the main island.
Shuttle buses can take patrons in wheelchairs and service dogs, but unfortunately are unable to take any other pets.
A parking and bus map will be available soon.
Yes! We’re providing free bike racks at the top and bottom of the island, so feel free to bike there. (It’s great for the environment too!)
Please be mindful of patrons and dismount when moving through the main event site.
